Young or old, cruises can be a blast!
Whether you are in port or the middle of the Atlantic, there is never a dull moment on a holiday onboard a ship. If you have a look around online you can see that the latest liners to come off the production line are simply massive – the largest ship employed for cruises weighs in at over two hundred thousand tons and is over a thousand feet in length! All this real estate is not entirely wasted on ballrooms and beauty spas either – one of the largest boats currently in service boasts a rock-climbing wall, a full size basketball court and an ice skating rink. If you land up attending a formal dinner then you will have to look smart but the rest of the time the emphasis is on fun and relaxation. Pack a load of your skate t-shirts and you will be fine for activities both on and offshore.
On Board Spa Facilities
Most cruises have loads of things for you to do when they are anchored at port too. You can look good on the basketball court in the latest Shorty’s design or chill out on deck in an Etnies t-shirt. If you are going somewhere that is a little on the chilly side, like Iceland or Greenland, you will be glad that you packed your free beanie too. They look great and keep your head warm without making you lose your cool! As far as I know there are no ships currently being used for cruises that feature a skateboard park, but it is only a matter of time and, while you are waiting, you can keep your hand in onboard with a skate game on the ship’s Wii that comes complete with a two-storey screen for extra fun. Exactly what you can get up to on dry land will depend on which ports your ship is visiting, and it would be impossible to list all the possibilities in such a short article. To give you an idea of what is being offered you can go on glass-bottomed boat trips in the Caribbean, take a canoe up the Amazon in Brazil, go rafting on a tidal bore in Canada or take a trip on a submarine in French Polynesia.
P&O Adonia in Malta
Those are just a very small selection of things that you can do on various cruises. Other activities range from tucking into freshly caught lobster, to helicopter flights over beautiful tropical islands. The sleeping arrangements on modern ships include apartment style accommodation as well as smaller cabins, so children don’t have to share a bedroom with their parents. When you want to just kick back and relax, you will be glad to know that rooms are equipped with televisions and DVD players and often have satellite TV channels so you can watch live football or whatever you are into, otherwise you could catch a film at the cinema. Owing to the vast size of today’s vessels, there is not much that you can do on land that you can’t do on cruises.
